Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) backs the idea of creating a walking and biking path between Cold Spring and Beacon. Chris Layton Senator Chuck Schumer (DNY) said he will push the effort to help create a walking and biking path between Beacon and Cold Spring.

“Today I’m announcing a push for a public access path that will connect Beacon with Cold Spring, Philipstown with Fishkill,” Schumer said at the Mohonk Mountain House event, in Ulster County outside New Paltz. His announcement occurred there as he was already attending a separate meeting of an economic development group.

The proposed Hudson River Fjord Trail would stretch more than seven miles, following Route 9D south from Beacon; turning west toward the Hudson River near Dutchess Junction; and then extending along the waterway through Fishkill to Cold Spring.
