July 11th 2012 Fishkill Town Board Meeting

http://fishkilltownny.iqm2.com/Citizens/Calendar.aspx#

Meetings are now on video on the computer.

Under Supervisors comments, the following was revealed.

The Supervisor indicated that there was a $4.4 million deficit and another $3.2 million outstanding from the Pagones (R) Administration.

There will also be a upcoming Public Hearing on proposed water and sewer rate hikes.

Brinckerhoff Water $7 to $13 per billing unit.

Dutchess Park Sewer $34 to $41 per billing unit.

Rombout Sewer $36 to $44 per billing unit.

The FEMA maps were also mentioned again. Another citizen came forward and offered the board a solution to help the citizens from paying Flood Insurance. The citizen stated that a town official can certify that the land is not in a flood zone. The town attorney countered by saying that the town could lose benefits if they engaged in such. The board indicated that they are looking to get a "stay" at the U.S. Congressional level. A member of the Dutchess Soil and Water board will do the lobbying.

Whats unique about the FEMA maps. Is that while the town receives more disaster aid. Citizens who never had problems are now borne with the costs. (Via Mortgage companies now requiring flood insurance) The board voted to approve the maps earlier this year. Finally, when you appeal, there is only a 45-90 day period. Making it even harder to make things right.
