In the October 17th 2012 issue of the Southern Dutchess News. The paper
reported on a recent Fishkill meeting that discussed the new FEMA flood maps. A
few things were left out of the story and I believe that the citizens should
know all the facts, that were left out of the meeting.
1. The maps were voted to be re done in 2004 by a Republican Congress,
House and White House.
2. The maps were voted locally by a 5-0 GOP/Conservative board.
3. The Fishkill Town Board, never notified the citizens that they had a 90
day appeal process.
4. The Fishkill Town Board, never notified the citizens of the “Grandfather
Clause” that would have allowed insurance to be purchased at a much cheaper
rate.
5. FEMA is a Socialistic agency, it takes from you and sends the money to
coastal southern areas. If you think your Congressperson is going to help you,
you are severely mistaken. Do you think southern Republicans are going to help
us out while their people pay more?
In closing, Republicans from top to bottom have caused the Fishkill
taxpayer this hardship. Add a 78% water tax increase, a 25% sewer tax increase,
and the news is bleak. You would think things could not get much worse. But you
would be wrong. The Fishkill Republican/Conservative 5-0 board. Wants to raise
your property tax by a whopping 65%. If you own a business in Fishkill it would
be a huge 63% increase (Where is that Dutchess Chamber of Commerce letter writer
when you need him?) with a overall 17% increase in spending.
How do we stop this insanity? Vote for Tim Tuttle in a special election for
Councilperson on election day. Just think, if we had a fiscal conservative
Democrat on the board. He would have read the FEMA rules and advised the public
of what was going on. Instead, we have councilman, on the board. Who make sure
their properties were taken care of, while yours were not.
Check Tim Tuttle out at www.timtuttle.org, or you can ignore local
politics and just keep paying more for fiscal incompetence.
Sincerely,
Ozzy Albra
